The little cheap things

I'm a mom of 2u2 ( two kids under the age of two). I try to save where I can! I especially like to save on the things that are just for enjoyment, and are going to be gone and forgotten the moment it's out of sight. They'll never remember the consistency of the cheap play-doh vs the name brand, they'll only know that they look happy in the pictures. The bubbles that they are blowing ( and spilling all over the yard)? Never going to care that I paid 50 cents for them!

So, my cheapie product that I love today? This Dollar Tree bubble bath:

The girls love it! And I love the way it smells! Yummy! Does it produce the most bubbles in the world? No... but, it does make enough to satisfy my 2 little girls, and at a buck, it has definitely provided more than a dollars worth of entertainment!!

Pizza Pizzazz

Often my husband and I go out to eat, and between the (sometimes) appetizer, the salad, the rolls etc, by the time the meal comes, I'm already stuffed! Not that I don't love a good take-home box, really, I do :), but I hate that I usually leave most of a side that is fried, and I do love my fried foods. I love french fries, fried okra, fried mushrooms, fried cauliflower, homemade potato chips, egg rolls, crab rangoon (did I mention I love fried things?) etc., but by the time they've sat in that take-home box overnight, they've turned into a soggy mess. I've put them in the oven, but it tends to just dry them out (unless I'm missing the perfect setting). I ususally end up tossing them outside for the stray cats that wonder by...

Not anymore! Folks, I have found the solution!

 

Yup, the handy dandy always faithful Pizza Pizzazz. We've always used it for pizza (duh), chicken patties, garlic bread etc. but that was about it. I had some fried okra and homemade potato chips from our dinner the other night, and really really wanted to try to salvage them. I put them on the Pizzazz with the top and bottom heaters on for 6 minutes... perfection! They were crispy on the outside, and were actually hot on the inside, and NOT dried out! Yummy! Never again will I leave or toss my fried sides!

On the slightly weird side, I put ketchup on my fried okra. My husband, a southern boy, says I'm nuts.

So, name brand is always better huh?

Guess this will be a product review! My first one!

My husband and I have no problem using 'off brand' diapers. Lets face it, it's something they pee into, why spend extra $$ if they work right? So, we've been using Parent's Choice (Walmart) and Up and Up (Target) for our 2 girls. 

This weekend, P&G had a diaper changing station set up at our county fair, and they were also handing out free diapers. So, we got about 15 (very nice of them!) in various sizes. We put my 19 month old in a size 6 Pampers last night. She normally wears size 5, but, sometimes wets through them. We thought "hey, won't have to change the sheets in the morning!"

Boy, were we wrong! She was completely drenched. Her pajamas were soaked, sheets, pillow, blanket and stuffed animals. ALL, soaked. Even when she wets through normally, it's never this bad.

So, my overall rating? Not the best! Now of course, that's just my family. I know plenty of other people who have the opposite issues! And my daughter usually drinks 2 bottles or sippies through the night, as many toddlers don't.
